Consultation and Validation Workshops  Participants

The Consultation and Validation workshop is taking place in Nairobi Kenya from 20th -21st January 2025. This consultation and validation physical workshop are focusing on review of the developed draft Nile DEWS and get feedback. The workshop is dealing with user design input/ preplanning/inception assessment to enhance the Nile DEWS proposed methodology and approach. The Nile Basin Flood and Drought Technical Working Groups (NB-F&D-TWG) provide their in-depth review. Moreover, the workshop will introduce the project to the Nile Basin countries experts for their continuous engagement and getting their support, collection of preliminary information from national and regional levels.

The overall objectives of the workshop are to present the developed Nile DEWS, to carefully assess the functionality, and initially validate the Nile DEWS and its deliverable reports. Furthermore, the workshop will create a cooperative platform to jointly engage the Nile basin member state countries in managing drought risk and facilitate the implementation afterwards.

The workshop is currently being attended by TAC members from each of the nine countries, experts representing NB-F&D-TWG members from the NB countries, NELSAP-CU, Nile-Sec, NBD, professional participants from ENTRO, resource persons (experts reviewing the Nile DEWS model and reports), and RMSI consultants.

Β The workshop is expected to produce the following outcomesΒ 

β€’ Improvement in areas identified and Nile DEWS technically validated by each country on site specific reports.

Β β€’ Draft Nile DEWS product disseminate, sustainability and high usability of the project output.

Β β€’ Enhancement in Participants’ awareness and joint activities related to Nile DEWS.
