Road to NBDF8 Begins. Join us Online!
The Nile Basin Initiative (NBI) invites governments, development partners, academia, civil society, the private sector, media, youth, women and all stakeholders in sustainable development to join the official launch of the 8th Nile Basin Development Forum (NBDF8).
The launch will take place live from Dodoma, Tanzania, on Thursday, 6 August 2026, starting at 14:00 East African Time (EAT) and will be streamed live on the NBI Secretariat's X and YouTube channels.
Held under the theme, "Building a Resilient and Inclusive Nile Future: Investing in People, Innovation and Cooperation for Shared Prosperity," NBDF8 will bring together policymakers, scientists, practitioners, investors and communities to explore practical solutions for water security, climate resilience and sustainable development across the Nile Basin.
Since 2006, the Nile Basin Development Forum has served as the region's premier science-policy-practice dialogue platform, fostering knowledge exchange, strengthening partnerships and advancing cooperation on the sustainable management and development of the Basin's shared water resources.
The official launch marks the beginning of the Road to NBDF8—a series of engagements running from 6 August to November 2026, including thematic webinars and stakeholder dialogues that will generate ideas, share knowledge and shape discussions ahead of the Forum. The journey will culminate in the 8th Nile Basin Development Forum, to be held in Tanzania from 25–27 November 2026.
Whether you are a policymaker, researcher, development practitioner, investor, student or simply passionate about the future of the Nile Basin, this is your opportunity to join the conversation from the very beginning.
Join us online at 14:00 EAT on 6 August and help build a resilient and inclusive Nile future.
