Regional Climate Resilience Program (RCRP) Project for Eastern and Southern Africa Joint Review and Implementation Support Mission.

The second Implementation Support Mission (ISM) RCRP is currently being held on November 21,2025 and today November 24,2025 at the ENTRO Headquarters in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The hybrid session brings together representatives from the World Bank team led by the project task team leader (TTL) Laura Bonzanigo, ENTRO, NELSAP-CU, and project consultants, participating both in person and virtually.

Eng. Terence Ngod the program officer water resource management and Development (WRMD) from NELSAP-CU on the opening remark said that β€œWe look forward to reviewing the progress achieved so far. We appreciate the invitation, and we are ready to share the accomplishments to date as well as the expected next steps. We believe we will also benefit from the ideas and insights of the world Bank team.” Finally, He thanks the world Bank team for the continues guidance.

In his opening remarks, ENTRO Acting Executive Director, Eng. Teshome Atnafie, welcomed participants and highlighted the significance of the RCRP. He stated that β€œThe RCRP Project will demonstrate high relevance and coherence with basin priorities, producing tangible tools, results and policies that will advance cooperation despite under implementation in politically complex environment in EN Sub -Basin.” Said the Acting ED. 

Eng. Teshome also expressed his appreciation to the World Bank team for their continued support, timely guidance, and constructive engagement. He further acknowledged the dedicated efforts of ENTRO and NELSAP-CU staff, whose commitment has been instrumental to the project’s progress.

The meeting serves as a key platform to review the performance, progress, and milestones achieved under the RCRP. The session proceeded with an overview by Project Coordinator Eng. Isaac Liabwel, who presented updates on the project status, including the implementation of the post-NCCR transition action plan. This was followed by a series of technical work progress presentations from consultancy firms implementing respective project studies and discussions followed.

Following this, various presentations will be delivered on Fiduciary matters, Environmental and Social Risk Management, Gender and Citizen Inclusion, and the Action Plan for the next six months.
