Operations and Maintenance

The sustainability of the system has been emphasized and a sustainability plan developed, guided by international best practices in the operations and maintenance of hydrometric stations. The plan clearly defines roles and responsibilities of relevant Ministries (National Hydrometric Agencies) within Member States in the operation and maintenance of the hydromet system.

NBI established a Help Desk at the Secretariat and Regional Expert Working Group (REWG) on Hydrology to provide technical support to members states on emerging issues on Operations and Maintenance of the regional system and generation of hydrological information products from the system. The two aids the process of operation and maintenance of the system, data collection and quality check from the regional stations, performing hydrological analysis and generating basin monitoring information products, and identify training needs for successful operation and utilization of information from the system.
