The NELSAP-CU team, together with officials from Ugandaโ€™s Ministry of Water and Environment, conducted stakeholder engagements in Elegu and Nimule to discuss viable flood management options for the Unyama/Ame River Catchment and strengthen awareness of the Flash Flood Early Warning System (FFEWS).
The engagements brought together local leaders, community members, and institutions through stakeholder meetings and radio talk shows, providing a platform for communities to share experiences, raise concerns, and receive practical information on flood preparedness and response.
The discussions focused on coordinated flood management planning, community preparedness, and long-term resilience, while awareness materials distributed to local authorities, schools, and residents reinforced key early warning and risk reduction messages.
These efforts continue to support improved awareness, stronger coordination, and enhanced community readiness to anticipate and respond to flood events.
