Abstract

To promote the Eastern Nile (EN) Joint Multipurpose Program (JMP), inventories were made of water resource, socio-economic and environmental information in the three Eastern Nile countries (Egypt, Ethiopia and Sudan), and subsequently re-compiled into sub-basin-wise thematic synthesis reports for each of the four main Eastern Nile sub-basins: Abbay-Blue Nile, Baro-Akobo-Sobat-White Nile, Tekeze-Setit-Atbara, and Main Nile. This report details the socio-economic characteristics and issues of the four sub-basins.
