The Eastern Nile Technical Regional Office ENTRO has received financing from the World Bank toward the cost of the Nile Cooperation for Climate Resilience Projects (NCCR) and intends to apply part of the proceeds for individual consulting services.
The consulting services (“the Services”) is to compile, edit and ensure all knowledge products under the NCCR project are technically sound, well categorized, summarized, and accessible to users. The consultant will also support the integration of these materials into the Integrated Knowledge Platform (IKP). The scope of the service will include (i). Reviewing, Editing and Proofreading Knowledge Products; Review all knowledge products (reports, studies, models, tools, training materials, communication products, etc.) to ensure clarity, coherence, and consistency and ensure that all documents adhere to the NCCR project's style guide and formatting standards; Proofread and correct grammatical, syntactical, and typographical errors; Ensure that all technical terms, acronyms, and abbreviations are used correctly and consistently, (ii). Summarization and Categorization; Develop concise summaries for all thematic areas; highlighting key findings, recommendations, and actionable insights; Categorize knowledge products according to their themes, sub-projects, and intended audiences, Produce one-page policy briefing notes for each thematic area, Create an executive summary of the NCCR project as a whole.; Recommend keywords and ensure proper metadata tagging for easy search and retrieval on the IKP (iii) Quality Assurance and; Collaborate with technical teams, thematic area coordinators, and ENTRO management to ensure accuracy and consistency; Verify that all knowledge products are free from errors and inconsistencies (iv) Accessibility and Integration; Work with the IKP development team to ensure proper uploading and linking of knowledge products; Ensure materials are accessible to users with varying levels of technical expertise.
The consultant will deliver the following: (1) Edited and proofread versions of all NCCR knowledge products, (2) Concise summaries for key reports and studies for each thematic area, (3) An overall executive summary of the NCCR project, including a list of reports., (4) Categorized and tagged knowledge products ready for integration with the IKP, (5) A report outlining challenges encountered, recommendations for future knowledge product development, and a dissemination plan. The Consultant will be engaged for 45 staff days (over a period of three months) with an expected start date third week of May 2025, ensuring full consistency with the TOR attached or referred to in this REOI. The consultant may work remotely but will be required to attend periodic virtual meetings with the ENTRO team. At least one or two trips to ENTRO’s offices in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, will be required for data collection, information gathering, and report presentations.
The Consultant should have a master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., environmental science, water resources management, engineering, communications, or related disciplines and should have at least 15 years of experience in technical editing, report writing, proofreading, and content development.
The Eastern Nile Technical Regional Office (ENTRO) now invites eligible Individual Consults (“Consultants”) to indicate their interest in providing the Services. Interested Individual Consultants should provide information demonstrating that they have the required qualifications and relevant experience to perform the Services. The short-listing criteria are information indicating their professional capability and experience to perform the services ;( qualification, description of similar assignments, relevant work experience in similar conditions, availability of appropriate skills and Language proficiency). The attention of interested Consultant is drawn to Section III, paragraphs, 3.14, 3.16, and 3.17 of the World Bank’s “Procurement Regulations of Procurement for Investment Project Financing (IPF) Borrowers” July 2016 [revised November 2017, August 2018, and November 2020 (“Procurement Regulations”), setting forth the World Bank’s policy on conflict of interest.
A Consultant will be selected in accordance with the Individual Consultant Selection method, Procurement Regulations for Investment Project Financing (IPF) Borrowers, November 2020.
