Ntimaro Irrigation Scheme

Water Agricultural irrigation and drainage

Overview

Summary

The proposed Ntimaro Irrigation Scheme is in Borenga village, Serengeti District. At Present farmers depend on rainfed agriculture and quite often end up in crop failures due to unreliable rains and poor distribution of rainfall. In order to address this problem, there is need to promote rainwater harvesting through construction of a storage reservoir to provide water for irrigation. Hydraulic and social data collection and reconciliation. The scope would include (i) Feasibility and engineering design (ii) Construction of earthen dam for storage and irrigation of an estimated 400ha.

Estimated investment costs is US$ 5.6 m.
