The training in water -smart irrigation in the Nile Basin is taking place in Nairobi Kenya from June 23-24, 2025, with the main objective of acquiring the participants with the State of Art and innovative technologies in the Water-Smart irrigation through introducing: 

• Earth Observation (EO) Technology for monitoring: soil moisture, evapotranspiration, crop health (NDVI, LAI, EVI, SIWSI), Irrigation efficiency.
• Water Smart Irrigation Dashboard for real-time decision support in water management.
• Crop detection, classification and crop water abstraction need
• Technical skills enhancement in satellite-based irrigation monitoring.

The training workshop includes 22 Participants (TWG, NBI centers representatives, Resource Persons and Consultant)

The Training is expected to have Presentations and demonstrations, Interactive sessions

The Expected Outcomes are: -

• Enhanced capacity of participants in applying EO for irrigation management.
•  
• Improved dashboard features based on user feedback.
• Strengthening regional collaboration and knowledge sharing among Nile Basin countries.
